Job summary

Bay Human Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Michigan to assist in directing daily home operations and support individuals with disabilities. The role involves hands-on work with Direct Support Professionals, supervision of staff, and weekend/afternoon shifts with occasional midnights.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess genuine concern for and ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
• Ability to communicate with empathy and establish and maintain supportive relationships which promote freedom and choice.
• Excellent organizational, communication, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-directed and resourceful.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train newly hired employees.
• Supervise and transport individuals to community activities.
• Implement policies, procedures, and legal commitments.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and meetings.
• Advocate for all supported persons.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Administer medications/treatments as prescribed.
• Follow emergency home procedures for fire, tornadoes, etc.
• Assist with daily hygiene and cleaning tasks.
• Support community activities and personal purchases.
• Implement plans and Data collection per plan.
• Maintain home cleanliness and organize activities.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, med admin).
• Foster teamwork and positive communication.
• Complete other duties as directed.
