Job summary

Listening Ear Crisis Center in Lansing, MI seeks Direct Support Professionals to supervise and support daily living activities per each consumer’s Person Centered Plan. Duties include meal prep, hygiene, assisting with meals, transporting to appointments, and ensuring safety per Michigan Health Code.

You will document care, attend trainings, and work with the Home Manager to provide compassionate, respectful care. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Must understand laws, regulations, and methodologies for caring for mentally disabled adults.
• Know recipient rights and the Consumer Bill of Rights.
• Familiar with Person Centered Plans, CPR, First Aid.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and respond calmly to emergencies.
• Professional with empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement activities per the consumer’s Person Centered Plan.
• Assist with meals, personal care, medications, and transport to appointments.
• Complete documentation timely and accurately.
• Attend mandatory trainings and skill development programs.
• Report punctually to work and remain with consumer until relieved.
