In this essential position, you will oversee highway maintenance operations within a designated area of the Cambria County Maintenance Organization. Your responsibilities will include comprehensive planning for all regional work, managing general crews, coordinating agility-related initiatives, and supervising specialized crew activities. You will provide direct oversight to crew supervisors, offering hands-on management for projects as required. This role encompasses directing all aspects of seasonal highway maintenance, including minor construction projects on state highways, and entails meticulous planning, scheduling, and control of operations, particularly winter snow removal. Availability around the clock for emergency and weather-related responses is mandatory, as is the supervision of winter operations, which may require driving in adverse conditions at any hour. Engaging in outreach efforts to enhance the Department’s reputation, you will integrate Agility initiatives into routine activities, such as planning visits with potential partners during road surveys and interacting with customers during site inspections. Additionally, you will ensure that subordinate foremen receive adequate training in highway maintenance and crew supervision to enable them to operate independently in routine maintenance tasks.
