Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in New York City is seeking an Assistant Group Leader to support staff in delivering after-school enrichment and recreational activities. The schedule is School Year from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, at $17.00/hour.

The role includes guiding activities, supervising participants, distributing snacks, and upholding program rules. You will assist the group leader, collaborate to ensure safety, and support instructors with lessons; must be 18+, reliable, and able

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
• Must be available during the program hours listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
