Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd invites applications for an Assistant Group Leader to support and assist staff in delivering planned educational and enrichment activities in our after-school program in New York. The role requires helping with sports, arts and crafts, supervising youth, and maintaining a safe environment.

The position is scheduled for School Year hours: 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable and consistent work habits.
• Available during the program hours listed above (2 pm–6 pm).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to work from a youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports, recreation, educational, arts and crafts and special events.
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
