Job summary

Good Shepherd Services in New York is seeking an Assistant Group Leader to support staff in after-school enrichment and recreational activities.

This role is up to 20 hours per week, non-exempt, schedule Monday to Friday 2pm-6pm during the school year, at $17.00 per hour, reports to Program Director, PS 297.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
• Must be available during the program hours listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports, recreation, educational, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Program Director, PS 297

Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt;

Schedule: School Year / September - June / Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm

Salary: $17.00 / hour

Major Duties:

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
