Job summary

Merrimack Valley YMCA in Andover, MA is seeking an entry-level, part-time Assistant Group Leader to support developmentally appropriate curriculum for school-aged children and assist with supervision, lesson planning and daily attendance. Under the Site Coordinator, you will provide safe, motivational leadership, uphold licensing and safety standards, maintain cleanliness, and model YMCA values.

CPR/First Aid, and strong verbal/written communication are required; salary $15.00–$16.62 per hour;

Qualifications

• Relevant college classes in Education or related field preferred.
• Maintain CPR certification and First Aid throughout employment.
• Must know, understand and display developmentally appropriate practices for school aged children.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work closely with the Group Leader/Site Coordinator to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Program responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with supervision of children, assisting with lesson planning and daily attendance.
• Ensure and maintain quality of program and that it meets EEC Licensing Requirements, QRIS Standards and complies with all safety regulations.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the child care classroom.
• Keep safety as a first priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional wellbeing of all staff, volunteers, members, students, families and program participants using the YMCA classrooms and indoor/facility.
• By personal example help interpret quality of YMCA Character Values or Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
• Reports all accidents/unusual incidents immediately to the Group Leader/Site Coordinator with all necessary documentation.
• Accept and perform all other responsibilities necessary for the good of the organization as required by supervisor (remains flexible).
