Job summary

Greater Lowell YMCA seeks a Part Time Group Leader for the School Age Program in Lowell, MA. Under the Site Coordinator, you will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, support academic and character development, and help run daily arts, crafts, sports and enrichment activities.

Requirements include a High School diploma (some college preferred), 18+ years of age, and CPR/First Aid certification; you must be an EEC Group Leader. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities under the Site Coordinator.
  • Supervise children and daily attendance; ensure safety and quality of program.
  • Lead arts & crafts, physical activities, sports, and team-building exercises.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed and maintain program standards.

Job Title: Group Leader Department: School Age

Reports To: School Age Director/Site Coordinator

Status: Part Time (Non-Exempt) Revision Date: 1/25/2021

POSITION SUMMARY:

A group leader is a role model who can assist with academic support and character development. Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, a group leader plans and organizes groups pertaining to school age children and administer special activities, and implements daily activities relating to arts & crafts, physical activities and sports, character and team building exercises, and others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work closely with Site Coordinator to plan and implement developmentally appropriate
  • Ensure and maintain quality of program and that it meets EEC Licensing Requirements, QRIS
  • Standards, YMCA of USA Initiatives (Active Learning and HEPA Initiatives) and complies with all
  • safety
  • Program responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervision of children, lesson planning and daily attendance.
  • Keep safety as a number one priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional well-being of all staff, volunteers, members, students, families and program participants using the YMCA classrooms and indoor/facility.
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the childcare
  • By personal example help interpret quality of YMCA core values of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible).
  • Traveling up to 25%-50% of the time

Summary

The openings for this position are before school Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 9:00 am, after school Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, full day school closures between 7:00 am - 6:00 pm and half days from school end to 6:00 pm. Work sites are located in Lowell, MA and Dracut, MA. Preference is given to applicants with availability for all 5 days.
