Job summary

Black Bear Golf Course is seeking an Assistant Golf Professional for the 2027 season to support daily golf operations, tournaments, instruction, and guest experiences. The role collaborates with the Director of Golf to manage the pro shop, merchandising, events, and member services, providing hands-on exposure to all facets of a vibrant golf course operation.

Qualifications

• PGA Member or registered PGA Associate (or actively pursuing PGA membership) preferred.
• Previous experience in golf operations, customer service, and tournament management preferred.
• Proficient with POS systems and tee sheet management.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily golf shop operations including tee sheet management, player check‑in, sales, and inventory control.
• Coordinate and administer club tournaments, leagues, and special events, ensuring a professional and enjoyable experience for all participants.
• Support and lead instructional programs including private lessons, clinics, junior programs, and ladies' clinics.
• Promote and assist with merchandising, including product displays, sales promotions, and managing stock levels.
• Ensure proper course set‑up, handicap posting, and adherence to club rules.
• Oversee and support outside services, starters, and course advisors to deliver high‑quality service standards.

This is a hands‑on position that plays a vital role in daily golf operations, tournament management, instruction, and delivering exceptional member and guest experiences.

The Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Director of Golf to oversee all aspects of golf operations, including pro shop management, merchandising, event coordination, and member services. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in all facets of a golf course operation while helping drive a vibrant golf culture at Black Bear.
