Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to manage a broad portfolio of commercial disputes and IP enforcement on a global scale. Based in a hybrid work environment, you will guide strategy, supervise outside counsel, and ensure compliance with the Trust Principles while leveraging AI and eDiscovery technologies.

You will join a world-class legal team, work across jurisdictions, and partner with business leaders to align litigation risk with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

• Law degree and current admission to practice in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5-10+ years of post‑qualification experience managing commercial litigation or arbitration, in private practice or in‑house.
• A technology‑forward mindset and demonstrated ability to embrace emerging legal technologies, including legal AI and eDiscovery tools.
• Sound judgment and the ability to provide timely, practical advice and set strategy.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial disputes and litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Lead copyright and other intellectual property enforcement and defense.
• Direct class action defense, including antitrust and privacy claims.
• Develop and oversee litigation strategy aligned with business objectives, including early case assessment, budgeting, and risk analysis.
• Select, instruct, and oversee outside counsel globally.
• Oversee disclosure, discovery, and records management, using eDiscovery and legal technology to drive efficiency.
• Respond to subpoenas, regulatory requests, and other third‑party demands for information.
• Act consistently with the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles: integrity, independence, and freedom from bias.
