Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Labor & Employment to provide strategic legal guidance across the company's business units. This role focuses on employment and labor relations matters, policy development, and compliance management.

The position requires 4 days onsite in Brentwood, TN, and travel within the United States. The ideal candidate has a JD, Tennessee bar admission, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with strong communication and advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• JD degree and admission or eligibility to practice law in Tennessee.
• 5+ years of employment and/or labor law experience.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication and advocacy skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to corporate and HR staff on labor and employment matters.
• Draft policies to comply with employment laws and contract requirements.
• Manage outside counsel in employment litigation and wage/hour matters.
• Oversee compliance audits related to EEO, affirmative action, and wage/hour laws.
• Assist with investigations of harassment and workplace conduct.
