Job summary

Kleinfelder, a leader in engineering and environmental consulting, seeks an Assistant General Counsel to lead claims and litigation matters. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will develop strategies, oversee outside counsel, and support commercial contracting, insurance, and risk management across the enterprise.

You will bring a Juris Doctorate, bar admission, and at least 15 years in construction law or related fields, with proven success managing budgets and complex litigation.

Qualifications

• Education: Juris Doctorate from ABA accredited law school and active membership in any state bar.
• Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction law or a related field with significant responsibility for managing complex litigation and claims.
• Must have demonstrated experience managing outside counsel and significant litigation budgets.
• Experience within engineering, architecture, environmental consulting, or construction industries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation, arbitration, and ADR proceedings with oversight of outside counsel.
• Develop and implement claims and litigation management strategies with executives and risk professionals.
• Provide legal support for commercial contracting activities including review, drafting, and negotiation of client and subconsultant agreements, teaming agreements, and other contracts.
• Collaborate with project teams and business leaders to assess legal risk and provide practical solutions.
