Job summary

Kleinfelder’s Corporate Services team invites you to join as Assistant General Counsel (Claims & Litigation). You will be the lead attorney for claims, litigation, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution, partnering with executive leadership and risk management to minimize exposure.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will manage outside counsel, develop strategies, and support commercial contracting activities, including review and negotiation of client and subconsultant agreements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school and state bar admission.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction law with significant responsibility for managing complex litigation and claims.
• Experience managing outside counsel and significant litigation budgets.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation, arbitration, and ADR proceedings, including pre-litigation risk assessment and oversight of outside counsel.
• Conduct early case assessments and establish reserves in coordination with Finance and Operations.
• Prepare periodic claims and litigation reports for executive leadership and the Board.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including professional services, master services, subconsultant, teaming, joint venture, confidentiality, and vendor contracts.
• Collaborate with project teams and HR regarding employment-related disputes and claims, and work with risk management to ensure comprehensive programs.
