Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an Assistant General Counsel (Claims & Litigation) to lead the company’s management of all claims, litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution. You will partner with executives, operations, risk management, and outside counsel to mitigate risk and achieve favorable outcomes.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will oversee professional liability, E&O, employment, and general liability matters while supporting commercial contracting and various corporate governance

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in any state.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in construction law or a related field with significant responsibility for managing complex litigation and claims.
• Experience managing outside counsel and significant litigation budgets; experience in engineering/construction industries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation, arbitration, and ADR, including case strategy and outside counsel oversight.
• Coordinate early case assessments and reserve development with Finance and Operations.
• Prepare periodic claims and litigation reports for executives and the Board.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and contracts.
