Langton Green, Inc. seeks an Assistant Financial Controller to assist the CFO in managing accounting operations, GAAP reports, internal controls, and compliance. The role offers growth toward a Financial Controller position and close collaboration with leadership and program accounting teams.

The ideal candidate will oversee general ledger activities, assist with monthly closes, and drive process improvements using technology and AI-enabled tools. Maryland-based, full-time, exempt position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA license preferred but not required.
• Progressive accounting and nonprofit experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate, complete general ledger with proper documentation.
• Oversee accounts payable, cash management, banking, and card activity.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and depreciation.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Apply GAAP and nonprofit standards to funds, grants, and contracts.
• Coordinate monthly and year-end closes and internal reports.
• Prepare financial statements, cash flow reports, and schedules for leadership.
• Support external audits and IRS/990 coordination.
• Maintain internal controls and risk management; enhance processes with tech/AI tools.
• Ensure compliance with Maryland regulations and government programs.
