Job summary

Grand Hyatt Denver is seeking an Assistant Event Set-up and Services Manager to support successful meetings, conferences, banquets and events by overseeing room set‑up, equipment readiness, and day‑to‑day direction of event set‑up staff. This hands‑on role emphasizes safety, accuracy, timing, presentation and guest‑ready standards.

You will coordinate room layouts, inspect AV equipment, train staff, help schedule shifts, and collaborate with banquet, culinary, engineering and housekeeping teams

The Assistant Event Set-up and Services Manager supports the successful execution of meetings, conferences, banquets, and special events by helping oversee room set‑up, equipment readiness, and the day‑to‑day direction of event set‑up staff. This role is hands‑on and operational, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, timing, presentation, and guest‑ready standards.

Duties Include
  • Assist in overseeing the set-up, breakdown, and reset of meeting rooms, banquet spaces, and event areas in accordance with event orders, floor plans, and department standards.
  • Coordinate room layouts, tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, risers, linens, signage, and other event-related furnishings and equipment.
  • Inspect audio‑visual equipment, lighting, staging components, and other event equipment to confirm that items are present, clean, safe, and in working order before guest arrival.
  • Communicate setup progress, changes, issues, and special requirements to event leadership and relevant operating departments.
  • Help assign daily work, prioritize time‑sensitive setups, and monitor staff performance to ensure rooms are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Train new and existing team members on setup standards, safe lifting and handling practices, equipment use, room diagrams, and service expectations.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, timekeeping, attendance, and coverage needs based on event volume and operational requirements.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure equipment, furniture, linens, and supplies are returned, secured, and ready for future use.
  • Respond professionally to last‑minute changes and work collaboratively with banquet, culinary, engineering, housekeeping, and event planning teams.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations while promoting a positive, respectful, and team‑oriented work environment.

Compensation & Work Schedule

This is an Hourly management position with an annualized salary range of $56,000 - $66,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and business needs. The equivalent hourly range is approximately $26.92 - $31.73 based on 2,080 hours per year. The position is non‑exempt and eligible for Overtime. Actual schedules and compensation may vary according to business levels and operational requirements.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in hotel, resort, convention, banquet, catering, event operations, facilities, or a related environment.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience; experience training, assigning, or scheduling staff is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of meeting and banquet room layouts, event equipment, and setup terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events, changing priorities, and time‑sensitive deadlines.
  • Clear verbal communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a service‑focused approach.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and position event equipment and furnishings, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended event days as needed.
