Job summary

City of New York's Division of Traffic Operations Signals Street Lighting Engineering Design Unit seeks an Assistant Electrical Engineer to perform research, design, and analysis related to traffic signals and street lighting. You will prepare designs with AutoCAD, review contract documents, and coordinate with consultants on new or modified intersections and lighting projects.

Some assignments may require a driver's license; NY license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in electrical engineering with 1 year experience, or bachelor's plus master's in electrical engineering.
• Master's degree can substitute for one year of full-time electrical engineering work.
• Degree in other fields is not acceptable for this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs and plans using AutoCAD and evaluate contract documents and specs.
• Conduct field visits and complete lighting survey projects to meet city standards and codes.
• Coordinate with design consultants on new or modified signalized intersections and street lighting work.
• Review and approve shop drawings and maintain inspection records.
