Job summary

CalPERS in Sacramento County seeks an experienced Manager II-level leader to serve as Assistant Division Chief in the Retirement Benefit Services Division, Special Programs Section. You will provide full management and supervisory authority as the operations manager for JLRS and Warrants & Forms Administration Teams.

You'll oversee two Supervisor II teams, participate in strategic planning, and support hybrid work arrangements with in-person and remote collaboration.

Job Description And Duties

Are you a strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment? California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks a Manager II in the Retirement Benefit Services Division (RBSD), Special Programs Section.

This position serves as the Assistant Division Chief (ADC) and provides full management and supervisory authority as the operations manager for the Special Programs Section. This section includes the Judges’ & Legislators’ Retirement System (JLRS) and the Warrants & Forms Administration Teams.

In This Role You Will Oversee:
  • The Supervisor II responsible for the Warrants & Forms Administration, and the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 415b Processing teams
  • The Supervisor II responsible for the Judges’ & Legislators’ Retirement System (JLRS) team

Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
