Pyramid Consulting, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Assistant Distribution Designer in Kansas City, MO (onsite).

This 12+ month contract role offers hourly pay between $32 and $37 and a benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), and paid sick leave. Qualifications

• College Degree in CAD Design/Drafting or related technology field with 3+ years of design/drafting experience in Electric Utility/T&D/OH or UG Distribution Design.
• Experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS and Distribution Systems.
• Bachelor or Associate degree requirements with years as stated, or 4 years progressive detailing and design experience.
• 2+ years of experience, preferably in utility or power industry.
• Basic distribution design software experience preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD software, GIS software, and other design tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams to create designs for 2.4kV to 34.5kV projects.
• Work with the project team through design and construction, adapting plans to budget and client needs.
• Assist in the design of distribution projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
• Perform distribution calculations, including voltage drop and pole loading.
• Apply basic knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
• Assist with research and compile project data as required by project managers.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet objectives and deadlines.

Immediate need for a talented Assistant Distribution Designer. This is a 12+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Kansas City, MO(Onsite).

Key Responsibilities:

• The Assistant Distribution Designer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground utility distribution projects.
• The Assistant Distribution Designer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical distribution plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
• Assist in the design of distribution projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist in the preparation and development of distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
• Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
• Apply basic knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
• Assist with research and compiles project-related data as required by the project managers.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously, from initial assignment to completion.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Key skills; Must have a College Degree in CAD Design/Drafting or related technology field and min 3 years of experience supporting Design/Drafting for Electric Utility/T&D/OH or UG Distribution Design projects.
• Must have experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS and Distribution Systems.
• Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 2 years related experience Required OR Associate Degree and 3 years related experience Required OR 4 years progressive detailing and design experience.
• 2+ years of experience, preferably in utility or power industry
• Basic distribution design software experience preferred.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, GIS software, and other design tools.
• Basic knowledge of electric distribution infrastructure and construction techniques preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, and organization skills.
