Job summary

Staten Island JCC seeks a dynamic Program Coordinator to support the Director in the Cornerstone DYCD-funded after-school program in NYCHA and surrounding communities. You will oversee staff, develop programs, manage records, and ensure compliance with DYCD standards while upholding the JCC mission.

The role emphasizes leadership, program development, and strong communication to coordinate services, with responsibilities spanning administration, outreach, partnerships, and fundraising activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or two years’ experience in a youth-serving program with at least one year in a supervisory/managerial position.
  • Minimum of 30 hours of training every two years
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Criminal history clearance
  • NYS Department of Health fingerprinted
  • State Central Registry clearance documentation are required
  • Updated physical and tuberculosis/PPD skin test every two years
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and programmatic skills
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Innovative and provide a positive role model for participants and staff
  • Independent judgment and advanced administrative skills
  • Both weekend and evening hours regularly

Responsibilities

  • Program Development – plan, implement, and evaluate programs for youth; develop annual calendar; schedule enrichment trips and community service projects; assist Director with policies for after-school and evening/weekend programs.
  • Administration – maintain registrations and program paperwork; coordinate room scheduling and transportation; participate in staff meetings and training; assume building coverage as assigned.
  • Supervision of Staff – assist in hiring, training, and coordinating teachers, group leaders, and consultants.
  • Marketing/PR – develop marketing and public relations for after-school program; prepare Program Guide, newsletter, website and social media.
  • Compliance with DYCD/DOH regulations; ensure facility safety; participate in inspections and audits.
  • Community Partnerships – build relationships with participants, parents, school staff, partner organizations; attend community events.
  • Outreach – promote program; engage with coalitions and school liaisons; support recruitment.
  • Advisory Board & Youth Council – help recruit and develop members; co-facilitate meetings.
  • Compliance with agency requirements and incident reporting.
  • Attend JCC staff meetings and training; collaborate with other departments.
