Job summary

Manor Vail Lodge is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to partner with the Director and lead the Engineering department. You will supervise a skilled team, manage preventive maintenance and capital projects, and coordinate vendor relationships to keep our luxury property running smoothly in all four mountain seasons.

You will oversee the EMS/building automation, manage budgets, and lead after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school training in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing preferred.
• Minimum two years of engineering or maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, or luxury residential property.
• Previous supervisory or lead technician experience strongly preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred or obtainable within 90 days of hire.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred) required for handling refrigerants.
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing blueprints and schematics.
• Comfort with heights and all-season mountain conditions.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering team's daily operations, staff, and budget, acting as Director of Engineering in the Director's absence.
• Direct, train, schedule, and supervise Engineering staff in line with department and property policies.
• Resolve guest and owner maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Identify deficiencies, initiate and complete work orders, and perform repairs across guest rooms, units, and common areas.
• Oversee preventive maintenance for MEP and life safety equipment.
• Operate and maintain EMS and building automation systems; training provided.
• Assist in budgeting and capital project tracking.
• Manage contractor/vendor relationships, bids, scheduling, and invoices.
• Lead emergency response and after-hours incident management.
• Oversee maintenance at Golden Peak building and related spaces.
• Ensure OSHA, labor, ADA, and local codes compliance.
