University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring an Assistant Director of Employer Engagement. The role sits in the UNC Career Center, where it builds and expands a portfolio of employer relationships that increase job, internship, and work-based learning opportunities for students and alumni, and serves as the center's lead for Engineering programs. The assistant director reports to the Director of Employer Engagement and works with career staff across campus, faculty, alumni, and employer representatives.

• Develop and expand a portfolio of employer relationships to grow employment connections for UNC students and alumni and to diversify the employment sectors recruiting on campus.
• Serve as the Career Center's lead for Engineering programs, working with campus partners such as industry relations, alumni affairs, innovation offices, and academic colleges and schools.
• Design collaborative events and programs and lead career initiatives such as recruiting activities, internships and work-based learning, career fairs, mock interviews, and career treks.
• Act as a university-wide expert on employer engagement, recruiting, and labor market trends, and as a connector who builds support for key partnerships across campus.
• Create and deliver presentations and workshops to large audiences, and use Handshake and other career management systems to manage and grow employer and alumni relationships.
• Requires a master's degree, or a bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience (or an equivalent combination), plus strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across divisions.
• Preferred: a master's degree in business, higher education, marketing, or human resources, three years in career development, experiential education, recruiting, business development, or related fields, and experience with Engineering students or the employers who hire them.
• Preferred knowledge of program evaluation and assessment, survey design and data analysis, and trends in career education and work-based learning.
• Temporary full-time position (40 hours a week) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, expected to last four months from a December 1, 2026 start, with a possible hybrid arrangement.
