Job summary

Pima County Public Library seeks an Assistant Director of Library Public Services and Customer Experience. The role provides strategic leadership for public-facing services, supervising Library Services Managers and shaping programs and operations to reflect community needs.

The candidate will collaborate with partners, lead change with accountability and foster equity and inclusion across libraries county-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field with 6+ years in library admin, including 3+ years in management.
• MLIS from an ALA-accredited program preferred.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams, and collaborating with partners at multiple levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for public-facing services and customer experience.
• Oversee library operations across locations and supervise staff.
• Lead budget planning, grants, and program expansion initiatives.
• Collaborate with communities, schools, and partners to expand outreach and programs.
• Represent the library at events, board meetings, and professional gatherings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field, plus 6+ years library administration

MLIS (Master’s in Library Science)

Strong leadership and strategic planning

Data-driven decision making and reporting

Budgeting, grant development, and resource allocation

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
