Job summary

Assistant Director of Instructional Technology, Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, develops and supports technology for teaching and learning in large enrollment courses and media services.

Responsibilities include guiding teaching tech, managing multimedia operations, providing faculty training on video and LMS tools, and serving as the department's digital accessibility liaison. Hybrid options may be available with on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years of combined IT experience with supervisory capacity or lead worker experience.
• Knowledge of learning management systems used in higher education.
• Knowledge of multimedia productions and video content development.
• Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of assigned staff.
• Strong communication with faculty, staff and students; meet deadlines with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Envision and implement teaching and learning technologies supporting departmental pedagogical goals.
• Manage department multimedia operations and training for faculty in video and online collaboration tools.
• Supervise staff involved in video production, studio scheduling, and equipment management.
• Stay current on instructional technology trends and act as the department's digital accessibility liaison.
