Westfield Area YMCA in Westfield, NJ seeks an Assistant Director of Competitive Aquatics to support management, supervision, and evaluation of the competitive swim program. The role includes certification training to be a USA Swim coach and leadership of program, budget, and risk management duties.

Lead swim clinics, long course training, and individual/small group lessons; oversee registrations, staff development, and tryouts; promote recruitment for the Devilfish team and ensure on-deck

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ coaching experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Must be a member of USA Swimming (NJ) and hold/renew lifeguard and CPR/*AED certifications as required.
• Maintain lifeguard/IP safety certifications and emergency response readiness within 30 days of hire.
• Experience managing a 250+ swimmer competitive swim team and related programs.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsabilidades

• Assist supervision and development of the Devilfish program under direction.
• Develop and implement new programs based on space and approvals.
• Lead swim clinics and long course training; provide lessons as needed.
• Assist with registrations, paperwork, and payment follow-ups.
• Supervise coaching staff and develop lesson plans.
• Oversee tryouts; promote and recruit swimmers for the team.
• Monitor practice/meet schedules and track attendance.
• Maintain order in locker rooms and during meets.
• Build team spirit and be on deck for assigned hours.
• Attend dual/meets and ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Prepare lineups and understand meet manager software and TeamUnify.
• Report equipment issues promptly; evaluate and recommend equipment upgrades.
• Keep electronic logs of service requests and maintenance.
• Respond to parent inquiries within 24–48 business hours.
• Update team handbook and assist with offsite trainings.
