Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA seeks an Associate Coach of Competitive Aquatics to support a high-quality, member-focused program. The role develops athletes, manages practice plans, and supports staff within YMCA standards.

Responsibilities include meet operations, data analysis, and engagement with families, while modeling professional conduct and representing the YMCA positively at meets and events.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1-2 years of coaching experience with various ages.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds; in good standing with USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the overall management of the competitive swim team program with emphasis on athlete development and YMCA values.
• Develop and implement annual training plans, schedules, and strategies to motivate participants and achieve goals.
• Plan, organize, and communicate seasonal practice plans and expectations for assigned groups.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to coaching staff for a safe, inclusive program environment.
• Assist with development, scheduling, and supervision of coaching staff and volunteers.
• Ensure accurate entry of swim meet information and professional communication with families.
