Job summary

West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to lead program activities, support staff, and ensure safe, engaging aquatic experiences for members. The role emphasizes DEIB, staff development, and successful coordination of swim programs.

The position may involve weekends/evenings with the opportunity to mentor staff, oversee Blue Waves Swim Team, and contribute to marketing and fundraising efforts. Competitive benefits and retirement contributions are offered.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year related experience preferred.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard Training, YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
• Preferred Certifications: Lifeguard Instructor
• Completion or working toward completion of Y USA Team Leader Certification

Responsibilities

• Act as a leader in program activities to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
• Assist with recruiting and hiring diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboard and develop them for success.
• Support equity-centered DEIB efforts across the organization.
• Lifeguard and teach swim lessons when needed.
• Assist with management of Blue Waves Swim Team and related registrations.
• Manage rosters, mid-session reports, certificates of completion and registrations.
• Handle daily emails/voicemails for the Aquatics Department.
• Assist with training and in-services (First Aid and CPR).
• Support pool schedule coverage and marketing of program information.
• Participate in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
