Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA in Somerset County, NJ, seeks an Associate Coach of Competitive Aquatics to support a high‑quality, member‑focused program. You will help swimmers grow, meet goals, and develop their potential.

You’ll work with staff to plan training, supervise coaches and volunteers, manage meet information, and communicate with families, while upholding YMCA values during practice, meets, and events.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years coaching experience with various ages.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
• Must be in good standing with USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming.
• Supervisory experience a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the competitive swim team program with emphasis on athlete development and YMCA values.
• Collaborate to develop and implement annual training plans, schedules, and strategies.
• Plan and communicate seasonal practice plans and expectations for assigned groups.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to coaching staff to ensure safety and quality.
• Assist with scheduling and supervising coaching staff and volunteers.
• Ensure accurate entry of meet information and timely communication with families.
