Job summary

Auburn University’s College of Nursing seeks an Assistant Director of Academic Advising to coordinate and deliver advising services, manage projects, and develop retention-focused outreach for students and faculty.

The role implements early identification of challenges, coordinates orientation programs, and develops transition programs for transfer and RN to BSN students. It also leads student engagement initiatives and mentoring/tutoring programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in academic advising and student services with 3 years in academic advising in a higher education environment.
• For positions that require the employee to teach, a Master’s degree will be required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements operational guidelines and policies for the advisory team.
• Analyzes student academic data to plan and create strategies for retention and student success.
• Oversees advising and student services information and outreach to prospective students.
• May conduct orientation presentations and events for students, including freshman and transfer orientations.
• May develop and teach orientation courses for incoming students.
• Oversees college advising processes including transfer articulation, course evaluations, minors, orientations, and student events.
• Collaborates with faculty to increase student/faculty interactions and engagement.
• Assists the Director/Assistant Dean by meeting with prospective students and visitors.
