Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska seeks an Associate Director of Academic Advising Initiatives to lead advising programs, new student onboarding, and student success efforts within the College of Arts and Sciences.

This role supervises advising staff, delivers advisor training, coordinates participation in orientation, analyzes data for continuous improvement, and collaborates with departments to advance retention and graduation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in higher education with evidence of 1:1 student interaction in advising or related areas.
• Ability to learn and explain extensive university/college requirements, federal law, policies and procedures.
• Experience using a variety of technology platforms.
• Must have strong leadership skills and supervisory experience.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment essential.
• Ability to lead projects, build relationships and collaborate across functional units.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic advising initiatives and oversee new student onboarding and retention efforts.
• Supervise, develop, and assess advising staff; provide advisor training and workload management.
• Collaborate with departments and campus partners to improve student success outcomes.
• Contribute to assessment, data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Serve on college and university committees and promote professional development in advising.
