Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Internship experience or 1-3 years of professional fashion design experience.
  • Strong understanding of apparel design and garment construction principles.
  • Ability to create clear, detailed fashion sketches and communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for design development.
  • Experience with technical sketches and/or tech packs to support production accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team with the development of seasonal apparel collections, ensuring alignment with brand direction.
  • Research current fashion trends, colors, fabrics, silhouettes, and market direction to inform design decisions.
  • Create detailed computer sketches, design concepts, mood boards, and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Assist with fabric, trim, color, and material selection to support design integrity.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate technical sketches, tech packs, line sheets, and design specifications for production.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including technical design, production, patternmaking, and sample development, to ensure seamless execution.
  • Review samples and communicate design revisions and corrections to maintain quality standards.
  • Attend fittings and assist with feedback on fit, proportion, construction, and overall appearance.
  • Help manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organized design files.

Position Overview

The Assistant Designer will support the design team in creating seasonal apparel collections that align with brand vision and market trends. This role involves research, concept development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of designs. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and practices in fashion design.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Coursework in textiles, patternmaking, and garment construction is advantageous.
  • Training in Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with technical design and production processes.
  • Continuing education in trend analysis and fashion technology is a plus.
