Job summary

Northeastern Illinois University seeks an Assistant Dean of Students for Undocumented Student Resources and Student Care. This role leads comprehensive student support, crisis response, and advocacy for undocumented students, coordinating across campus and with community partners.

Responsibilities include program leadership, training faculty and staff, and developing care plans to promote resilience, retention, and success for diverse student populations aligned with university policies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field (Required).
• Minimum of five years of professional experience with college students.
• Understanding of needs of diverse student populations, including undocumented students.
• Knowledge of immigration-related issues and higher education policies.
• Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act and due process in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Experience in educational program development, planning, implementation and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate undocumented student resources and lead programs to enhance access and success.
• Provide non-clinical case management and guidance to students facing academic or personal challenges.
• Collaborate with campus offices and community partners to support student well-being.
• Lead trainings for faculty and staff on supportive practices and crisis response.
• Oversee the Advocacy Resources Center and related student support initiatives.
• Contribute to internal communications and program evaluation efforts.
