Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Customer Experience Manager is responsible for the following duties, in addition to other assigned tasks:
- Promote excellent customer relations by fostering positive, customer-focused behavior among associates. Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly and professionally. Strive for continuous improvement within the department.
- Assist the Customer Experience Manager in overseeing front-end operations and perform their duties in their absence. May assume full responsibility for store operations if management is unavailable.
- Enforce cash handling controls and security measures to prevent losses. Follow all policies related to Front End operations and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including those related to anti-money laundering, tobacco and alcohol sales, lottery, etc. Oversee bookkeeping procedures.
- Support associates with cash register functions such as giving change, checking prices, processing refunds, and conducting audits.
- Assist in onboarding and training new customer experience associates, ensuring they provide efficient checkout experiences. Recognize and reward performance, participate in performance reviews, and utilize the Learning Management System for training.
- Use scheduling systems to manage associate availability and meet business demands while adhering to budgeted labor costs.
- Manage supply costs and maintain adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Ensure smooth customer flow at the front-end, monitor checkout staffing, and manage breaks to minimize wait times.
- Oversee lot attendant services, operate checkout equipment, and ensure proper bagging and merchandise placement.
- Handle customer service calls politely, use intercom for announcements, and maintain equipment functionality.
- Communicate promotions and sales to cashiers, generate sales through suggestive selling, and participate in daily store huddles.
- Maintain knowledge of weekly ads, promotions, and store layout to assist customers effectively.
- Oversee safety and sanitation in parking and checkout areas, ensure cleanliness, and follow health and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure department and store operations run smoothly and continuously seek to improve job performance.
- Assist with related tasks such as cardboard baling or receiving deliveries, if trained.
- Utilize all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly.
- Support other departments as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise all department associates and may assume full leadership of the store in the absence of management, depending on store size and staffing.
