Red Tail Acquisitions in Irvine, CA is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the corporate accounting function. You will oversee monthly close, consolidate financials, and manage the accounting staff under the CFO.

The role emphasizes strengthening internal controls, coordinating with external auditors, and delivering timely reports to owners and investors. CPA is preferred; Big 4 background is a plus. 7+ years in accounting/audit with real estate exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
• 7+ years of accounting/audit experience, with a strong preference for experience in property management or real estate fields.
• CPA preferred.
• Big 4 experience preferred.
• Strong accounting, managerial, organizational, communication, and analytical skills will be critical to the success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close for corporate entities, including reconciliations, consolidations, and intercompany eliminations.
• Prepare and review monthly/quarterly reporting packages for ownership, investors, and leadership, including consolidated financial statements and schedules.
• Monitor spend against budget and review variances with department leaders.
• Act as primary contact for owner/investor reporting inquiries and prepare ad hoc analyses for CFO and leadership.
• Own the corporate reporting calendar and ensure timely internal/external reporting.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on filings and assist with tax workpapers.
• Prepare year-end financial statements, trial balances, and schedules for outside tax preparers; record book-to-tax adjustments.
• Track entity tax filings and respond to requests; review returns and K-1s before distribution.
• Responsible for cash management and treasury reporting; monitor cash balances and disburse funds.
• Coordinate year-end audit workpapers and liaise with external auditors.
• Manage accounting staff, provide training, and improve accounting processes.
• Utilize general ledger and reporting systems to streamline close and improve reporting efficiency.
• Review budgets and forecasts; consolidate results for leadership.
