Job summary

LHH in Northbrook, IL is seeking an Assistant Controller for a hybrid role with in-office presence Tue–Thu. You will drive close processes, oversee consolidations, and ensure GAAP compliance while supporting audits and intercompany activities.

You’ll mentor staff, partner with IT on ERP controls, and contribute to M&A integration within a large publicly traded consumer products organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience, including in publicly traded companies.
• Minimum 3 years experience leading accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience in manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG).
• Public or corporate accounting with a public company background.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the corporate accounting function ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes including consolidations and SEC reporting support.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Maintain internal controls per U.S. GAAP, SOX, and policy.
• Serve as primary contact for audits and implement recommendations.
