Job summary

CFS in Vernon Hills, IL, is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end closes, and leading the accounts payable function.

This role partners on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, maintains internal controls for GAAP compliance, and supports audits and regulatory reporting. The position offers hybrid flexibility after ramp-up (1 day remote per week) and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 7-12+ years of progressive accounting experience (construction/job costing/WIP preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; CPA preferred.
• Experience with CMiC or construction ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting
• Support month-end/year-end close and review financial statements
• Lead AP function and partner on process improvements across teams
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
• Support audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting
