Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking an Assistant Controller for a private equity-backed organization with multi-state operations. You will partner with the Controller and CFO to oversee month-end close, financial reporting under US GAAP, and acquisition integration to support rapid growth.

This hands-on role emphasizes strengthening internal controls, building scalable accounting processes, and mentoring the accounting team, while supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and lender reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience desirable.
• Private equity-backed company experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting environments.
• ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication across levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Support consolidation of multiple entities across several states.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with operations and leadership to improve financial reporting and performance.
• Support audits, tax compliance, and lender reporting.
• Participate in acquisition integration and process improvements.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement across accounting functions.
