LHH is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function for a fast-growing, private equity-backed organization in Phoenix, AZ. This high-visibility role partners with executive leadership to drive process improvements across a multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities include leading GL/AP/AR, month-end close, audits, ASC 842 lease accounting, and supporting M&A initiatives while enhancing reporting and scalability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Controller experience overseeing a full accounting department.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting background.
• ASC 842 lease accounting expertise.
• Experience leading external audits.
• Multi-entity experience required.
• Proven leadership and team development skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• CPA strongly preferred; MBA is a plus.
• Experience in mid-sized organizations with broad accounting ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Oversee a team of accounting professionals and foster a high-performance culture.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls.
• Lead annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Manage lease accounting (ASC 842).
• Support M&A activity, integrations, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Drive ERP, system, and process improvement projects.
• Partner with leadership to improve reporting, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
