Job summary

Paycom seeks an Assistant Controller in Rio Rancho, NM to oversee general ledger and financial reporting within a government contracting environment, ensuring GAAP, FAR/DFARS, and DCAA compliance.

In this full-time role, you will lead close cycles, manage audits and rate calculations, supervise accounting staff, and collaborate with Contracts and Program Management to maintain accurate financial data and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 4–6+ years of management experience.
• Strong experience with general ledger management, close processes, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint preferred).

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger operations, including project and indirect cost accounting.
• Manage close cycles and ensure financial reporting accuracy and timeliness.
• Review financial statements and supporting schedules in compliance with government requirements.
• Analyze indirect rates and support provisional and final rate calculations.
• Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, internal controls and company policies and procedures.
• Prepare incurred cost submissions.
• Serve as primary contact for financial statement and DCAA audits.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Conduct internal audits of billing and payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and the integrity of financial data.
• Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management, and executive leadership
