Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the accounting/Shared Services team, partnering with the Controller and VP of Finance on reporting, controls, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

This senior role will manage the close process, reviews, and cross-functional collaboration, while guiding a growing team through complex accounting challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Typically 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including GL, reporting, audits, and tax compliance.
• Experience reviewing work and guiding team members with strong GAAP knowledge.
• Experience in a multi-location organization with tax and reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
• Proficiency with Excel, ERP/accounting systems, and financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and year-end close, review journal entries, GL reconciliations, and GAAP compliance.
• Review team work, resolve complex items, and ensure accurate financial information.
• Review journals, reconciliations, and financial statements for GAAP compliance.
• Analyze results, investigate variances, and report to leadership.
• Maintain GL integrity, oversee leases, fixed assets, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany activity.
