Leoforce is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the accounting function, oversee the general ledger, and ensure GAAP compliance within a federal contracting environment.

The role emphasizes close collaboration with executive leadership, Contracts, and Program Management to ensure timely financial reporting, audit readiness, and strong internal controls across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 4-6+ years of direct accounting management or supervisory experience.
  • Strong hands-on general ledger experience.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS and DCAA requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience with indirect rates, indirect cost pools, incurred cost submissions or government contract accounting highly valued.
  • Experience supporting financial statement audits and/or DCAA audits.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting policies and ERP system controls.
  • Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across accounting, Contracts, Program Management and executive leadership.

  • Serve as a key accounting contact for financial statement audits, DCAA audits and other external reviews.
  • Support audit requests, schedules, documentation and follow-up items.

  • Supervise, develop and review the work of accounting staff
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members
  • Partner with Contracts and Program Management on project accounting, contract requirements, billing and financial matters
  • Work with executive leadership on financial reporting, accounting issues and operational needs
  • Support ERP and reporting improvements and ensure appropriate system controls are maintained

This position plays a key role in overseeing general ledger activity, financial reporting, close processes, indirect cost accounting, internal controls, audit support and compliance within a federal contracting environment. The Assistant Controller will work closely with executive leadership, Contracts and Program Management to ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial information across the organization.

The role will also provide leadership to accounting staff, support the continued refinement of accounting policies and procedures, and help maintain compliance with applicable GAAP, FAR, DFARS and DCAA requirements. Prior experience in government contract accounting, including indirect rates, incurred cost submissions and Deltek Costpoint, is strongly preferred.
