Job summary

CFS in Greater New Haven, CT is seeking a deputy-level finance leader to own finance operations across a large, complex organization. The role offers a hybrid schedule and exposure to senior leadership, with a path toward the next level.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, implement policies and controls, and lead multiple teams across units. A CPA and public accounting background are highly preferred, with strong Excel and Workday experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• CPA and/or public accounting background highly preferred.
• Strong command of financial accounting, reporting, and internal controls.
• Proven experience leading teams within a large, decentralized organization.
• Advanced Excel skills; Workday experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including journal entries, payroll, purchasing, billing/AR, tax reporting, and reconciliations.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensure audit readiness and compliance.
• Build unit financial plans and budgets, and deliver analysis and reporting to leadership; resolve complex accounting and compliance issues as the primary finance contact for assigned units.
• Oversee key administrative functions such as onboarding, system access approvals, and staff training.
• Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.
