Job summary

Murphy Search Group is seeking a Controller for an established electro-mechanical manufacturer in the Hartford/Springfield area. The role oversees financial operations, ensures reporting integrity, regulatory compliance, and supports strategic decision-making.

You will manage daily accounting, lead month-end/year-end closes, develop internal controls, mentor staff, and provide insights to leadership. Reports to the CEO as a key executive team member.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge in financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting and financial planning processes across departments.
  • Maintain cash flow management and monitor financial risk.

Controller

Our client is an established (Sixty 60 years) ElectroMechanical Products Manufacturer in a robust and growing niche. They are based in the greater Hartford/ Springfield area along I 91. They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of their company. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of all financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role reports directly to the CEO and is a key member of their executive team.

Key Responsibilities
