The Assistant Controller manages the day-to-day financial operations of the Accounting Department, serving as a business partner in support of the organization’s financial health. They help ensure accurate financial reporting and effective controls, contributing to financial analyses and process improvements that support the company’s growth and operational efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner to maintain up-to-date financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP. Review account reconciliations and journal entries to support an efficient close process.
- Support the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts. Monitor actual performance versus budget and report on variances. Provide data and insights to help refine forecasts and budgets as needed.
- Help develop, implement, and enforce internal control policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
- Provide support during financial audits. Prepare audit schedules and documentation, serving as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Prepare cost analyses, inventory valuations, and other financial reports to aid in management decision-making. Analyze and present financial data to identify trends or discrepancies.
- Supervise and mentor Accounting team members in their daily tasks. Provide training and guidance to ensure the team’s work is accurate and meets deadlines. Step in to resolve issues or ensure coverage of critical tasks within the Accounting team.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure financial data alignment and support company initiatives. Understand and report on key cost drivers and leverage the company’s ERP systems (Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics NAV) to improve process efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Skills & Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree (4-year college or technical school): Required
Experience: 4+ years of experience in Accounting Management
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Accounting software: Oracle preferred
Certifications & Licenses: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
