Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Virginia is seeking an Assistant Coordinator/Instructor for the Construction and Transportation Trades Program.

You will co-coordinate and deliver non-credit workforce and certification training across Reynolds and Brightpoint campuses, covering electrical, HVAC, plumbing, heavy equipment, and roadwork. The role requires teaching in labs, classrooms, and online settings; certification to teach Construction Trades and VDOT courses will be pursued if

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge and experience of the construction trades industry.
• Knowledge of adult training methods, curriculum design and development, and evaluation methodology.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate customized certification training programs to targeted industries.
• Demonstrated ability to train other instructors in classroom management and instruction.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of training participants, faculty, staff, and business and community partners.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct professional presentations to employers and workforce partners.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Demonstrated ability to complete projects and assignments independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with apprenticeship placements and employer partnerships.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Have 2 or more years of experience working in the construction trades industry and at least 1 year of supervisory and/or instructional experience in the construction trades or highway construction.

Responsibilities

• Co-coordinating and delivering non-credit workforce and certification training programs for construction trades.
• Establish, maintain, and improve Construction Trades education programs (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, heavy equipment, roadway construction).
• Teach effectively in trades labs, classrooms, business sites, work-based learning, and online instruction.
• Become certified to teach Construction Trades and VDOT courses if not already certified.
