Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking an Assistant Commander for Fire & Emergency Services to protect life and property across campus facilities and surrounding properties. The role involves fire safety inspections, emergency response, drills, and development of building emergency plans.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, multiple EMS/NIMS certifications, and a NYS driver's license with a clean record, with evening/weekend shifts and potential for additional

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher or 4 years related experience.
Three years full-time emergency responder experience.
Two years as an operational fire officer.
First Aid with CPR.
NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
NYS Code Enforcement Official or eligible for certification within 1 year.
NYS Confined Space Technician.
Must have NYS driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Commander along with the Fire Services team will protect life and property, provide fire protection and emergency services to all Stony Brook University facilities and surrounding properties, and perform inspections, emergency response, drills, and building emergency plan development.
