Job summary

Babson College in Wellesley, MA seeks an athletic coach to collaborate with the head coach in directing the program and to assume duties in their absence. You will assist in planning practices, coaching sessions, and strategies, and mentor student-athletes academically and personally.

Responsibilities include recruiting, scouting opponents, coordinating with Health Services and Deans, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC, and Babson rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 1–3 years of coaching experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications required or must be obtained within 3 months.
• Bloodborne Pathogen training in compliance with OSHA; yearly renewal.
• Strong communication skills required.
• Compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC, and Babson College rules.
• Commitment to inclusion and belonging for staff, student-athletes and stakeholders.
• Ability to adapt to change and take on new initiatives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the head coach on all aspects of program management and direction; assume head coach duties in their absence.
• Assist in planning and coaching practice sessions and games; teach advanced skills and strategies.
• Counsel students on academic and sport-related matters; refer to student support resources as needed.
• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes; mentor athletes and coordinate with class deans.
• Develop liaison with Health Services, Residential Education and Student Activities to support program development.
• Assist in scouting opponents to prepare for practices and events; contribute to recruitment efforts.
• Assume additional administrative responsibilities as required by AVP, Athletics and Athletics Advancement.
• Assist with general department operations and travel as needed.
