Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Greenville, SC is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support project teams in designing and redeveloping a range of facilities, from power to healthcare. You will assist with drawings, data collection, and client communications throughout design and construction.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. EIT is preferred; ABET accreditation is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit) and Civil 3D.
• Strong detail-orientation and leadership capabilities.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; GPA 3.0+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for diverse facilities.
• Assist in designing civil components to meet project needs.
• Apply basic civil engineering concepts, principles, and procedures.
• Assist with researching and compiling project data and reports.
• Assist with updating drawings and CAD verification.
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Assist with field inspections, measurements or calculations.
• Perform other duties as assigned; comply with policies.
