Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Morristown, NJ seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to assist licensed engineers on diverse projects across power, process, healthcare, airports, and government facilities, from concept to construction. You will adapt designs to budgets and client needs, supporting CAD work and reports.

Required: bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, strong communication, and CAD skills; internship or related consulting experience preferred. EIT certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work analytically.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of facilities.
• Design civil components per project managers’ requirements.
• Apply standard civil engineering concepts and procedures.
• Assist with data collection, studies and reports.
• Correct and update drawings using CAD software as directed.
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
