Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to oversee building systems at a 1M sq ft Class A office in Chicago. The role includes supervising a small engineering team, guiding contractors, and ensuring safe, efficient operation.

The position requires 3-5 years of related experience, trade school or equivalent training, and EPA certification or intent to obtain it within the first year. On-site work, 7am-3pm, with on-call duties.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
• Trade school education or union training desirable; military service or college also noted.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct contractors under the Chief Engineer.
• Assist in preventive maintenance program formulation and implementation.
• Assist in training and supervision to expand the team's capabilities.
• Maintain CMMS work order system and tenant service requests.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly operation and mechanical reports; respond to emergencies.
• Communicate effectively with client and occupants.
• Complete tasks including painting, lighting maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, and general maintenance.
• Conduct facility inspections and safety compliance; participate in training programs.
